RescueTech spokesperson Nick Holmes said the dog had first been spotted by a hiker in the morning.
“We believe that the dog may have been injured but it was spotted alive by a hiker who then called us. Rescue technicians returned to the site this morning and the search carried on,” he said.
Holmes said the dog, in good health, was later found by a factory worker.
“The owner will still take him to vet for a once over though. He ended up appearing at the mini factories in Giba Gorge after getting a fright earlier in the morning and bolting down the St Hilliers dirt road. One of the guys from the factory he turned up at managed to get hold of him and phoned us," he said.
The woman had taken the elderly Jack Russell off his lead before the dog had fallen over the edge.
