Nene resigns as ANC MP, reports

Cape Town - Former finance minister Nhlanhla Nene has resigned as ANC MP, according to reports.

eNCA reported that Nene quit in December but his resignation was processed only last month.

In December Nene was unceremoniously removed from his position as finance minister.

At the time President Jacob Zuma said his name (Nene) had been put forward to head the African Regional Centre of the New Development Bank/Brics bank.

Nene was replaced with largely unknown David van Rooyen, who was put in the seat for four days and was replaced by Pravin Gordhan.

According to City Press the Office of the Speaker has confirmed Nene’s resignation.
