Cape Town – Two people have been arrested for drug possession in Mandalay, Mitchells Plain, Western Cape police said on Saturday.
The suspects, a man and woman, both aged 21, were arrested on Friday night following an investigation into alleged illegal drug activities at a residence in Mandalay, said police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.
Rwexana said when police entered the premises in Wessel Street, they noticed a man throwing a bag into a dog kennel.
After removing the bag, officers found plastic bags containing Mandrax tablets.
They also recovered bags containing thousands of Mandrax tablets from the boot of a BMW parked in the garage.
The drugs had an estimated street value of R900 000.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of dealing in drugs.
