Rapist targeting boys in Thabong, Free State

Thabong – A 12-year-old boy has become the latest victim of a man raping schoolboys in Thabong, Free State police said on Thursday.

A number of cases had recently been reported of young boys being raped in a field near Dismartising and HaMazibuko, Thabong, Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane said in a statement.

The 12-year-old was raped on Wednesday around 14:30. The man’s previous victims were aged between 10 and 14.

His victims were boys who went to school in Thabong and lived in Bronville. He attacked them on their way to and from school.

He allegedly lured boys into the veld by asking them to help him search for money he had lost, then ordered them to undress and raped them.

A manhunt was underway.

Thabong police appealed to parents to warn their children, and advised them to walk in groups.
