6 arrested in Tzaneen sting operation

Tzaneen - Six people have been arrested in the last two days during a sting operation in Maake and Letsitele areas in Tzaneen, Limpopo police said on Saturday.

The group aged between 19 and 34, were arrested for various crimes which included possession of firearms and ammunition, drugs and selling alcohol without a licence, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said.

"A 31-year-old man was arrested for possession [of an] AK 47 automatic rifle, ammunition and magazine without a license, two aged 31 and 34 were arrested for possession of dagga, a 25-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder and the other two aged 19 and 30 were arrested for assault and non-compliance [with the] liquor act."

He said the group was expected to appear in the Nkoankoa and Lenyenye Magistrate's Courts soon.
