Teen drowns on Johannesburg school outing

Johannesburg - A school trip has been marred by tragedy after the drowning of a teenage boy on Thursday, Netcare911 reported.

Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said a second boy had survived the incident which took place at an unnamed resort in Krugersdorp.

"Reports from the scene indicate that the two were part of a group of learners that were at the resort on a school outing," she said.

"We found first aiders and paramedics from another emergency service on scene already initiating CPR on the deceased. Our advanced life support paramedics assisted. This went on for more than 45 minutes, but sadly there was nothing more paramedics could do for the boy and he was declared dead at the scene," she added.

Police are investigating the incident.
