Cape Town – Beaufort West Mayor Truman Prince will have to face both the ANC provincial leadership and the party's Central Karoo regional executive committee representatives on Tuesday.
The mayor will be asked to explain some of the controversies he has been involved in lately.
ANC provincial spokesperson Jabu Mfusi said the provincial leadership had met and discussed the issue on Friday and Monday, and they would meet with Truman and the regional executive committee on Tuesday.
The party would decide what steps to take after they had heard his side.
Prince is in trouble with the party after he requested that a tender be given to a construction company which was "sympathetic and having a relationship with the ANC".
In the letter, dated December 3, 2015, Prince wrote: "We are an ANC-led municipality, we are therefore in need of financial injection for our 2016 local government election campaign and therefore will also want to see construction companies sympathetic and having a relationship with the ANC to benefit, in order for these companies to inject funds in our election campaign process."
Both the national and provincial ANC condemned him for the letter.
The mayor is also facing charges of assaulting a female traffic officer in Leeu Gamka in the Karoo recently.
He has denied the allegations.
Meanwhile, Mfusi said the party would also arrange a meeting with PEC member and Ses’Khona leader Andile Lili, who was arrested last week for failing to appear in court.
Lili appeared in the Bellville Magistrate's Court on Friday February 5 after a warrant was issued for him when he failed to appear on two occasions.
He was due to appear on charges of incitement after he called for Ses'Khona members to kill criminals who robbed and raped others.
The matter was postponed to Friday.
