Two men in court for Inchanga killing

Durban - Two men have appeared in the Camperdown Magistrate's Court on charges of killing SACP member Nonsikelelo Blose in Inchanga, the NPA said on Wednesday.

The matter was on Tuesday postponed to August 31, for an identity parade to be conducted, KwaZulu-Natal NPA spokesperson Natasha Kara said.

They were each charged with one count of murder and one of pointing a firearm.

They will remain in custody. Blose, 40, was shot dead at a tavern in Fredville on Sunday night. ANC member Xolani Ngcobo was shot and stoned to death on Monday morning, apparently in a revenge attack.

Ward 4 councillor Malombo Nxumalo previously told News24 that Blose was killed because she was due to testify against those accused of the murder of Phillip Dlamini, 69.

He was one of two people killed during a public meeting at the KwaNdokweni sports ground in Inchanga earlier this year.

Nxumalo was an independent candidate and related to former eThekwini mayor James Nxumalo, who came from the area.

The killing of Dlamini and Bongani Hlatshwayo, 38, deepened divisions between the ANC and the SACP in the area.

The latest murders brought to 15 the number of people killed in the province in the last few months. The killings were believed to have been politically motivated.
