Cape Town- Two men were arrested on Thursday morning for allegedly stealing military equipment from the SA Navy arms depot in Simon’s Town, the Hawks said.
Overnight raids led officials to the pair, aged 18 and 26, in Steenberg, said Western Cape Hawks spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha.
The SA National Defence Force said the men allegedly trespassed and got into the depot at the weekend.
Several guns, grenades and ammunition were stolen, Netwerk24 reported.
After their arrest, they led Military Police and the Hawks to where they had stored it. Everything was recovered, said defence spokesperson Brigadier General Xolani Mabanga.
Western Cape Hawks head, Major General Nombuso Khoza, thanked officials for working hard and “sacrificing their sleep” to ensure the arrests.
