Pretoria - Carine van Staden, 28, who was shot in the chest by an army corporal while her fiancé looked on, underwent surgery on Friday, September 15, in an attempt to remove hardened blood from her lung.
According to Netwerk24, Van Staden spent the weekend in ICU at the Dr George Mukhari Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa before being discharged on Monday afternoon.
Her father, Johan, said on Tuesday that the doctors hadn't been able to remove the blood.
They will be doing X-rays of her lungs in two weeks' time to see if the blood is still there.
If it is, she will have to undergo more surgery.
"This time it will be a much bigger operation, where she will be cut open from under her arm," Johan said.
Carine said before Friday's operation: "I'm still very sore, tire easily and sometimes feel dizzy. I have my on and off days."
She and her fiancé, Johan Harmse, 29, were on his motorbike on the day of the incident when a man in an official army vehicle, a white Audi, allegedly tried on several occasions to force them off the road.
At one stage, the car's bumper hit Van Staden's foot. At a red traffic light on the corner of Lavender Road and Braam Pretorius Street in Wonderboom, Van Staden confronted the man.

Harmse said the man, who is reportedly the driver for a very senior officer in the army, opened his door, pressed a firearm against Van Staden's chest, and fired a shot.
According to Pretoria North Rekord, the incident occurred on the evening of August 10.
The bullet went through her lung. Harmse said shortly after shooting Van Staden, the corporal also pointed the gun at him.
The corporal claims that the couple wanted to hijack him, although he didn't report the matter to the police.
He has to appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate's Court in October on a charge of attempted murder.
