Bloemfontein – Free State police are investigating cases of murder after three people were found killed in separate incidents in Bloemspruit.
The three bodies were found in the early hours of Saturday morning, said police spokesperson Constable Peter Kareli.
Officers who were on patrol received information about the body of a man near a house in Phase 10 in Bloemspruit at around 01:40, Kareli said.
On arrival they found the victim lying in a pool of blood with an empty wallet next to his body. The victim had one stab wound to his chest.
Officers were also called to Phase 9 at 07:10 on Saturday. They found a man who had been stabbed in his chest.
Kareli said preliminary investigations indicate that the two were victims of robbery.
In another incident, the lifeless body of woman was found in a storm water drain near Grassland. She was aged between 30 and 35.
The woman had a stab wound at the back of her head and one on her cheek. Her throat was also slit.
"No form of identification was found near the deceased and Bloemspruit police are investigating a case of murder [and trying to] establish the motive for the gruesome killing," Karell said.
