Nothing strange about Reeva's action - Roux

Pretoria - There was nothing abnormal about the way Reeva Steenkamp acted moments before she was shot and killed by her boyfriend Oscar Pistorius, the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria heard on Friday.

Advocate Barry Roux for Pistorius said there was nothing strange about her not announcing in the middle of the night that she was heading to the toilet.

Roux also added that there was nothing weird about her taking her phone with her.

"Especially this younger generation... they gel very well with their phones," said Roux.

He also pointed out that there was nothing odd about only a small amount of urine being found in her bladder nor about the fact that she was dressed in her shorts and T-shirt.

Roux said Steenkamp most probably heard Pistorius scream at the intruders to get out of the house.

"She got up from the toilet and closed and locked the door and sat in silence," Roux said.

He claimed she probably felt safe behind the locked door.

Roux was delivering his closing arguments in Pistorius's murder trial.

The Paralympian is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Steenkamp.

He shot her behind a locked toilet door at his Pretoria home on Valentine’s Day last year. He alleged to have mistaken her for an intruder.

The State however contends it was premeditated.

"Had he threatened to shoot her, she would not have stood directly behind the door," Roux said in his client's defence.

He maintained Pistorius intended to shoot an intruder and not the deceased.

Roux submitted to Judge Thokozile Masipa that the prosecution could not shift intention.

He argued that Pistorius should have been charged with culpable homicide.

Maybe Reeva took her phone with her to see in the dark...

Mr Roux. there's also nothing strange when justice is done and your client is sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Reeva ran into the bathroom when Oscar screamed at the intruders ??? Barry just shot himself in the foot there because there was no sounds from the bathroom before Reeva was in the bathroom. The noises were coming from the bathroom, if there were intruders then Reeva would not run and lock herself in the room that Oscar is shouting towards

Dressed in her shirts and T-shirt. Now this part is totally strange for a couple in 3 months old relationship.

Oscar's behavior even now shows that he can still kill someone. There is a lot that he still does that confirms he meant to kill Reeva. Its just sad. RIP Reeva. Let justice prevail.

The more I listen to Barry Roux defending Pistorius the more it becomes easy to believe that the devil is definitely hiding inside the money (dollar bills).

I don't know what I'd think of doing to this Rouxgenot if Reeva was my child... Guess he's doing his job but, shew!!! When he went about the door with four bullets lobbed inside and having no mention of the poor victim behind, I felt sick, and I don't usually get this way :'-(

I dont get it if the state lie they and the advocate doing this are plotting against the case. Then the fact that Reeva made text messages from the toilet floored the states arguments. Should the role of the state not be neutral and the defending lawyer be the one that make arguments. The extension cord is simply a plot by the state and somehow the whole approach of the state was not to solve the case and get the proof but rather a case of an enemy. That all by itself puts the whole south African justice system in the light as going out of its way use state funds even tampering to make one guilty. Gerrie made a mess of the whole image of this country and an image of not a fair trial can be expected. The mess up at this stage is guilty or not the state is enemy nr 1. I think Gerrie got mixed up with ego and tv and should have played a role of a state wanting the truth not that of party a against party b. Sorry the legal system and lawyers acted so unprofessional in front of international press. How can they go on public tv and jump in and call even professionals basically liars without even being into court or having any paperwork. Sorry hopefully a lot will get sued thanks to this public tv thing
