Cape Town - A motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma that is due to be debated in parliament on Tuesday afternoon was destined for the “dustbin of parliament”, according to the ANC.
City Press reports the motion was proposed by Agang SA, who subsequently tried but failed to get it postponed pending the outcome of a court bid to prevent Speaker Baleka Mbete from presiding over the debate. Agang SA also wants voting to be held by secret ballot, not open vote as is currently the case.
In a statement, ANC chief Whip Stone Sizani said that the ANC looked forward to “reaffirm the confidence of the overwhelming majority of South Africans in the able leadership of President Jacob Zuma”.
