Cape Town - Emirates will be cutting down on its South African flights Dubai between 1 May and 20 July due to runway rehabilitation at Dubai International Airport.
Beeld reports that Cape Town flights will be cut down to one a day, instead of the usual two, while Johannesburg’s three flights a day will drop to two.
Durban’s one flight a day will remain unchanged.
Johannesburg and Cape Town are just two of 41 international destinations in which flights will be cut down during the next few months.
Dubai International Airport will be undergoing an 80-day upgrade, which is going to cost Emirates about 1 trillion dirham (R2.89 trillion) in lost revenue.
Larger aircraft will be used on certain routes where flights have been cut, but it is not yet clear if this will be the case for Cape Town and Durban.
