Cape Town – After months of major refurbishments, Skukuza Airport in the Kruger National park has reopened with a brand new look.
Jointly owned by Lion Sands, Federal Air and Airlink, the Skukuza Airport Management Company officially opened for business on Monday after refurbishments of more than R40m were completed, the SABC reports.
Scheduled Airlink flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town started flying into the airport on June 2.
Flights from OR Tambo International in Johannesburg to Skukuza depart daily at 10:00 and arrive at 10:50. Afternoon flights returning to OR Tambo depart Skukuza at 13:30, landing at 14:35.
A second afternoon flight between OR Tambo International Airport and Skukuza Airport will be introduced 1 August 2014.
Flights from Cape Town International to Skukuza depart daily at 10:35, arriving at 13:05. A return flight to Cape Town is scheduled to depart at 11:20, set to land in the Mother City at 13:55.
Flight fares start from R1 480 per person on the Joburg route and R2 770 per person on the Cape Town route.

SANParks have also said that they hope that the opening of the airport will encourage more tourists to visit the park.
