Top wreck hunter believes they’ve found MH370 crash site

Cape Town – Despite searches yielding no concrete signs of the Malaysia Airlines jet that went missing on 8 March, and is suspected to have crashed in the Southern Indian Ocean, an experienced wreck hunter believes that they crash site has been found.

News.com.au reports that David Mearns, the director of UK-based Bluewater Recoveries said that 40 days after the Boeing 777-200Er went missing, search teams have finally found their target.

During an interview with ABC news he said that while the Australian government hadn’t announced it yet, he was sure that the crash site had been discovered.

He explained that one would not just hear signals randomly in the ocean and that the pings they had heard were not fleeting sounds, but four very good detections with the right spectrum of noise coming from them.

Mearns did, however, add that it could take months for the Bluefin-21 minisub scanning the oceanfloor for the plane, to recover the black boxes. Mearns found the wreck of the HMAS Sydney in the Indian Ocean in 2008 and also helped in finding the wreckage of Air France flight 447.
