The search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 ended on Tuesday, after nearly three years of multi-million dollar quest to find remains.
"Despite every effort using the best science available ... the search has not been able to locate the aircraft," Malaysian, Australian and Chinese authorities said in a statement.
The Malaysian Airlines plane vanished on the way to Beijing from the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014 with 239 people on board. Only three pieces of the planes remains were found in Mauritius, the French island Reunion and an island off the coast of Tanzania.
While the news of the halt came as no surprise, many family members of the victims were left in dismay.
