Khombela Nthleko, who goes by the name DJ Khomza, has been remanded in custody after he was denied bail in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court. He was caught on camera allegedly assaulting a woman with a metal object at the weekend.
The woman – believed to be his partner – is recovering in hospital after she was attacked at an Engen garage near Pretoria in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Thandeka Ndlovu, who is friends with the victim, filmed the incident and posted the video on Facebook.
Speaking to News24, Ndlovu said the women were returning from a club in Tembisa when Nthleko "threatned to shoot and kill" the two.
"'You’ve been gone the whole day! Who is cleaning for me?'" – that’s what Ndlovu says Nthleko yelled at her friend.
"I was so freaked out. He started beating her in front of five club bouncers," Ndlovu said.
Nthleko then allegedly left the victim bloodied and unconscious in the car.
"I tried pouring Redbull on her face; anything to try wake her up, but she wouldn’t and that’s when the cops came," Ndlovu recounted.
Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula called Nthleko an “animal” on Twitter.

"I condemn these callous actions in the strongest terms and believe the law will act swiftly on Khombela,” Mbalula said in a statement.
The victim is receiving treatment in hospital.
"My friend’s muscles are swollen, her one eye is completely shut and her arm won’t move," Ndlovu said.
Meanwhile, a Facebook account believed to be Nthleko's shows an entry seemingly referring to the incident.
In it, the uploader says: "We all do make mistakes and learn from them."
