Henri's parents, Martin and Teresa, and his brother Rudi, were axed to death in their home on the luxurious De Zalze golf estate in Stellenbosch in the early hours of January 27, 2015. His sister Marli sustained a serious head injury, but survived.

Henri has remained the prime suspect in a case that has intrigued and gripped the nation, with the plea hearing finally getting under way on Monday.
