Jakarta - At least 17 people were killed and five seriously injured when a truck carrying primary and high school students overturned on Thursday on Indonesia's North Sumatra island, police said.
The truck swerved and fell into a three-meter deep ditch in Central Tapanuli district after a wheel came off, local police chief Tarigan told Metro TV.
"The victims were elementary school pupils as well as junior and senior high school students," Tarigan said.
He said the driver survived with injuries and was being questioned by police.
