Berlin mosque bombed

Berlin - Police say an Islamic cultural centre in Berlin has been attacked with a Molotov cocktail - the sixth arson attack on Muslim institutions in the capital this year.

Police spokesperson Thomas Neuendorf said an unidentified person threw a Molotov cocktail at the Islamic cultural centre of the Iranian community early on Thursday morning.

He says the missile set the facade of the building alight, but the fire had died out before authorities arrived. Nobody was injured, but state criminal police are investigating.

Neuendorf says the Sehitlik Mosque, Berlin's biggest, has been attacked four times this year, and the al-Nur mosque attacked once. Neither attack caused injury or serious damage.

The attacks remain unsolved. Neuendorf says it's not clear if they are connected.
