Russia 'practically at war with Europe'

Brussels - Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite on Saturday warned Russia was practically at war with Europe and urged tougher sanctions against Moscow.

"Russia is at war against Ukraine and that is against a country which wants to be part of Europe. Russia is practically in war against Europe," said Grybauskaite, one of Moscow's harshest critics, as she arrived for an EU summit.

Sanctions so far "were too general, not targeted enough...This was a big mistake," she said.

Finnish Prime minister Alexander Stubb later urged fellow European Union leaders "to be very firm" in their response to reports of Russian troops fighting inside Ukraine.

"We'll probably discuss further sanctions," Stubb said, adding these could target financial services, armaments, dual-use products and energy.

"What Russia is doing in Ukraine is wrong. We need to find a ceasefire, we need to find a peace plan," he said.

Luthania must be clear when commenting about Russia. You want pease or war. Don't talk more sunctions when you want peace and vice versa. If you feel strong send your army. Europe must tell US what their choice is, food or to stay cold and hungry.

Oh. I thought that Europe was at war with Russia. Didn't they impose sanctions without providing any proof for their basis and simply ignored Russian attempts to enter into dialogue? How did they expect Russia to react? Smile and take it? Russia has every right to defend itself economically and militarily.

Does this mean that Zuma will be captured and incarcerated? Oh, one can but hope they keep him for a long time.

Ceasefire!!!! Wow bravo since when did that came to EU's vocabulary? Russia has been talking about ceasefire and the start of dialogue for donkey years with that blatantly ignored. Poroshenko stopped the ceasefire he thought it will be as easy as processing a chocolate. Now the rebels are turning the tables so does the tune. Sanctions will never work go to the basics negotiate.

It's hardly worth commenting on this nonsense. The western media has been bought and paid for, and echoes what the American government feeds to it. The present shambolic mess can be laid firmly at the feet of US Foreign policy, and their EU acolytes. Ever since I saw footage of Senator John McCain and 'Baroness' (God help us) Catherine Ashton wandering happily through the streets of Kiev following the toppling of the legitimate government of Ukraine by American sponsored mercenaries, I have realised that we are faced with a propaganda tsunami the like of which has not been seen since the heyday of the Third Reich. We are surrounded by lies and misrepresentations that beggar description. The underlying purpose is to move the NATO sphere of influence up to the Russian border - this in spite of an earlier statement by NATO that they had no plans do do just that. Putin is being portrayed as the big bad wolf whereas his statements have been anything but belligerent - so far. As for the statement that Russia is at war with Europe, this is ridiculous. What the Ukrainians are trying to do, aided and abetted by the EU and the US is to goad the Russians into war, which is just what they want, as NATO can then join in. If they want World War 3, they are going the right way to get it.
