Suicide car bomber targets Nato convoy in Afghan capital

Kabul - A suicide car bomber targeted a convoy of the Nato-led coalition forces in Kabul on Tuesday, police said.

"We are confirming an explosion in the Shah Shahid area of Kabul," said Sediq Sediqqi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior.

"One civilian and the driver of an armoured vehicle with foreign troops in were injured," said Ebadullah Karimi, Kabul police spokesperson.

The bombing damaged both vehicles carrying foreign troops and the buildings around, he said.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, at least 49 rebels were killed in separate foreign drone strikes on Monday night in the eastern province of Nangarhar, said Ahmad Zai Abdulzai, the provincial governor's spokesperson.

He said the drone strikes targeted separate hideouts of the rebels in the villages of Achin district.

"No civilian casualties were reported," he said.
