US sends disaster relief teams to Iraq

Washington - The US is deploying a disaster response team to Iraq to help distribute humanitarian aid to tens of thousands of people who have been forced from their homes in the fresh wave of violence in the country's north.

US Agency for International Development Administrator Rajiv Shah said on Monday the team will help speed food, water and other life-saving supplies to Iraqis.

Much of the assistance will go to thousands of members of an Iraqi religious minority group known as Yazidis who have been trapped on a mountaintop in northwest Iraq to escape certain death by Sunni militants with the Islamic State group.

Shah said the US teams would help coordinate the assistance distribution among Iraqi officials, international partners and humanitarian aid agencies.

Zeenat, but you've got to admit just one thing: there is more conflict in this world in Muslim countries than in Christian countries. Right? Be hard on yourself Zeenat, be honest about it.

Zeenat, name just one Christian terrorist organisation (and don't tell me "the West" or "the USA"). Now let's name all the terrorist Muslim cells: Boko Haram, Hezbollah, Hamas, Al Qaeda, ISIS. Truth is, Christians are peace-loving folk. Many (but not all) Muslims are aggressive war-mongers who throw the first stone then expect not to be klapped.
