London - The British police say the man who on Wednesday attacked and killed three outside the Parliamentary building was Khalid Masood, a 52-year-old Briton with criminal convictions. About 40 people were injured.
The police said that Masood had been known by "a number of aliases" and had been living in the West Midlands, which includes the city of Birmingham where there was an armed police raid overnight .
Britain's top anti-terror officer Mark Rowley told reporters in London that they had conducted searches at six addresses and made seven arrests. He said the raids included locations in London and Birmingham.
Meanwhile a statement from the Mormon church in Salt Lake City issued a statement saying one of those killed was a man from Utah and his wife had been seriously injured.
Kurt W Cochran and his wife, Melissa, were on the last day of a special trip celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary when the attack occurred.
The church says the Utah couple were also visiting the woman's parents, who are serving as Mormon missionaries in London. Melissa Cochran remained in hospital.
