The clock is ticking for marathon runners to enter the inaugural Lemo Mall Mangaung Marathon scheduled for 4 May in the Free State’s capital Bloemfontein.

The one-day event makes provision for four categories: 42,2 km, 21,1 km and 10 km as well as the 5 km, which is suited for developing prospective future runners and health lifestyle enthusiasts.

Registration for all four races is open and will close on 30 April. With 21 days remaining runners in the Free State are encouraged to show their support, by registering in large numbers for the marathon which will take place under the slogan, Your Roots, Our Route. Entrance fee is R250 for 42,2 km, R150 for 21,1 km, R100 for the 10 km and R50 for 5 km fun run. The highly anticipated marathon will start and finish at the mall. The focus is on the marathon’s main races: (42,2 km, 21,1 km and 10 km), which provide runners an opportunity to qualify for this year’s edition of the Comrades Marathon, the World’s oldest and largest ultra marathon since 1921. This year the marathon is dubbed the Human Race.

The Comrades will take place on 9 June from Durban to Pietermaritzburg (up-run).

The Lemo Mangaung Marathon will also be a chance to measure fitness level for the endurance-demanding Comrades Marathon.
