The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will assist Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 beneficiaries through the Integrated Community Registration Outreach Programme (ICROP) in Joubertina, Koukama Local Municipality.

ICROP is a campaign aimed at intensifying the fight against poverty and contributing towards the achievement of service delivery.

This programme seeks to improve access to services and intensify the SASSA service delivery footprint especially in the rural and semi-rural areas.

Moreover it is specifically geared at bringing all government services under one roof. Through ICROP, the Agency is committed to strengthen its citizen participation programme by fostering informed communities in its identified targeted wards.

The strategic intervention of the Agency through ICROP consists of the following pillars:-

Community and Beneficiary Education Programme: a platform to provide information about the services; Stakeholder Dialogues and Participation Programme during which support is facilitated to implement the ICROP pillars in an integrated and seamless manner; Media and Public Awareness Campaign to communicate with the public to raise awareness about the ICROP implementation and general information about SASSA services; and Service Delivery Outreach Program in which a one-stop shop service is rendered by SASSA and its participating stakeholders in an integrated manner to enable access to a range of services, to address the socio-economic needs with a focus on social development of the targeted communities.

The main focus of the upcoming event is to assist SRD R350 beneficiaries as they are adversely affected by lack of information on how to fully access this social grant.

Focus areas will be on:

  • Clarity on payments dates
  • Historic payment for SRD R350
  • Declined in Merchant stores
  • Fraud related cases
  • Appeals backlog education

On the day, the programme will also focus on other social grants offered by the Agency. Stakeholders will render services on wheels which include identity document applications, proof of residence letters, health checks and more.

The event will be held at Ravinia Multi-Purpose Centre, Joubertina, Ward 3, Koukamma Local Municipality on Friday, October 27 at 08:00.
