Libode police, local government officials and a traditional leader visited an illegal initiation school at Ngolo locality - Zitatele A/A at about 22:00 on Friday, November 24, after receiving information about an illegal initiation school.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Welile Matyolo, on their arrival at the initiation school, there were two initiates aged (17 and 18), two bogus traditional surgeons with their two assistants who were arrested with immediate effect.

"The suspects arrested aged between (18 - 35) will be charged with unlawful circumcision. The two initiates were handed over to their parents, and the initiation school was demolished.

"Parents are urged and have been urged to take full responsibility for the lawful circumcision of their sons in lawful initiation schools; hence, these illegal/unlawful initiation schools mostly result in unnecessary deaths," said Matyolo.

The four suspects will appear at Libode magistrate court on Monday,27 November, for charges of unlawful circumcision.
