The family members of Nolizwi Bili (36), a Grade R teacher from Gorha Primary School in Libode have appealed to the Libode police to fulfil their promise of continuing to search for her. Bili went missing while at school on December 6, last year.

According to her mother, Nowinile Bili, on the day of the incident, she left home to go to school as usual and never complained about anything.

“I was shocked when the school management team informed me that she was missing. According to the information I have on her arrival at school, she left her handbag in the staff room. Her colleagues thought she had gone to her classroom, but after some time, they noticed that she was not there. It is alleged that after she left her bag, she was seen going out through the fence, taking a direction that goes to the forest; she did not use the school gate entrance,” said Bili's mother.

She said that Bili's mask was found next to the river. She disappeared with her two cell phones, and the family has tried several times to call her, but the phones were not answered.

“I wish the police officers would continue with their search and maybe find her body.”

Department of Education spokesperson, Mali Mtima said that the department is aware of the incident.

"It alleged that Bili got lost, but it was not clear how she went missing, whether she was at school or not," said Mtima.

“We reported the incident to the community with the assistance of the School Governing Body (SGB) members. The community tried their level best to look for her but in vain. We called the police, and they searched for her with their dogs, but they also did not find her.”

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu confirmed that their K9 search and rescue team searched the entire nearby forest on December 7, last year, with no positive results.

“The police helicopter is under repairs and has not been utilized for some time. However, the investigator will continue with searches once the helicopter is ready. The search in the forest will continue,” said Naidu.
