Sports festival to celebrate heritage month

In an aim to celebrate heritage month, Mbhashe Local Municipality in Dutywa will host a three-day ILifa Lo’Mbhashe Festival event which consists of different sports activities and music performances from various well-known artistes on September 27, 28 and 29.

On the first day of the inaugural ILifa Lo’Mbhashe Festival event, sports like table tennis, boxing, volleyball and darts are expected to take place at the Indoor Sport Centre in Willowvale town (Gatyane) at 12:00.

Meanwhile in Nqadu Great Place at Gatyane, all athletes around Mbhashe will compete against each other in 5km, 10km and 15km races that will be hosted early in the morning at 07:00.

Every athlete or runner, table tennis team, volleyball club, boxers and darts players around Mbhashe areas are invited to be part of this three-day ILifa Lo’Mbhashe Festival event.

All those who are interested ino participating in these different sport activities are requested to call Baliso at 082 564 8574 to register for free.

Those who perform well throughout the event will get good prizes to acknowledge their great work as the other aim of the ILifa Lo’Mbhashe Festival is to contribute in sport development locally.

On the second day of the event there will be activities like a 10km Hiking Trail at Nqadu Great Place, fleamarket, an agri-tour and a heritage tour.

With this event Mbhashe Local Municipality also aim at exposing people to their tourism, or trying to attract many tourists.

On the final day, September 29, there will be an Arts and Music Festival at Dutywa Stadium, where small business will have an opportunity to showcase with their work in front of everyone, including tourists.

Artistes like Pastor the DJ from Mhlobo Wenene FM, Zuko SA, DJ SK, Butho Vuthela, Sinovuyo, TZK, Sekoz Woo-Novaphi and Lusanda Mcinga will entertain the people.
