When pressed for time and looking for a quick go-to meal, a pasta bake dish is easy to make.
This pork penne pasta bake can be a tasty variation on an old favourite.
Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 15 ml crushed garlic
- 1 kg Malu pork mince
- 600 g basil and tomato pasta sauce
- 400 g canned diced tomatoes
- 15 ml mixed herbs
- 15 ml chilli flakes (optional)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)
- 500 g penne pasta
Method
- Cook the pasta until the al dente stage (soft, but still firm). The pasta will cook further later.
- Over medium heat, fry onion and garlic until light brown.
- Add the pork mince and fry until cooked.
- Add the pasta sauce, canned tomatoes, herbs and chilli flakes. Mix thoroughly.
- Add the cooked pasta and combine with mince mixture.
- Transfer to an ovenproof dish. Add mozzarella cheese on top.
- Oven bake for 20 minutes at 180 °C.
