Johnny Baartman has pleaded guilty to the murder of his ex-wife, Desiree Baartman, and the mother of his two children today, May 5, at the High Court in Gqeberha.

As part of a plea agreement with the State he has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Baartman, a former high school teacher, killed the mother of his two children and dumped her body in a drain on the outskirts of Gqeberha. At the time they were divorced but still sharing the same house.

He cleaned the crime scene. Police discovered Desiree's body in a 3,7 m deep drain on June 20, 2023 on the outskirts of Gqeberha.

This is a developping story.
