A man who was on the run following the shooting of a Kensington police constable handed himself over to police late on Tuesday.
A 34-year-old constable attached to Kensington Police Station was shot and wounded while he and a colleague were on patrol in the area on Monday 22 April.

Two suspects were arrested shortly after the incident and the third fled the scene.
According to Cpt FC van Wyk, provincial police spokesperson, the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting incident was discovered on premises in William Taylor Street, Bellville South by members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit on Tuesday 23 April.
He said: “After following up on information that the firearm was indeed on the premises a 41-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm.”
Kensington Police Station commander Lt Col Nkosinathi Losini confirmed a 30-year-old man, accompanied by his lawyer, handed himself over at Maitland Police Station.
He said the two suspects who were arrested on Tuesday appeared in court today on charge of attempted murder and were released pending further investigation.
According to Losini, the 30-year-old suspect will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court once charged..
"As police we don't have any room for crime. Even the suspect who handed himself over could feel our footsteps were getting closer. He didn't have a choice but to hand himself over."
