Amy February from Kuils River, a Grade 12 learner at Rhenish Girls’ High School in Stellenbosch, was taken to school in true VIP-style by radio station Good Hope FM last Wednesday at the start of the school year.

Early in January Good Hope FM’s Big Breakfast show made an announcement on air calling all matriculants who would like to make a grand entrance on their “last first day of school” to WhatsApp their details to the station.

The winner would be picked up, entertained and dropped off – an entire radio breakfast show packed into a taxi and broadcasting live en route.

From left is Carl Lewis (Good Hope FM), Alison February, Danilo Acquisto (Good Hope FM), Amy February, and Garren February with Stan’s Big Taxi in the background.

Amy was the lucky winner and decided to bring her mom, Alison, along for the ride and vibe.

Good Hope FM’s Hit 30 host, Danilo Acquisto, was standing in for Stan Mars, whose idea it was to take Stan’s Big Taxi on the road once a month, mingling with hustling Capetonians in rush-hour traffic, spreading some joy and tunes to the roads.
