The pleas of the Bongani Regional Hospital staff have finally been heard after numerous attempts to get the Free State MEC of Health, Mathabo Leeto, to take action regarding reported sexual harassment at the hospital.
Moses Sehole, a registered nurse, was accused of sexually harassing three staff members at the hospital.
Vista published an article in September 2023 that explained that he had made an appeal against his dismissal following the accusations.
The outcome of the appeal was finally decided by Leeto as the appealing authority and the disciplinary committee.
Sehole is now dismissed.
The criminal case against Sehole was first heard in the Welkom High Court on 18 January, and his second appearance was on 13 February.
“This is a victory to the victims of sexual harassment. They were brave to stand for their rights,” said an informed source.
