KM Mkhonza, Bedelia:
The ongoing South African Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) strike at the Matjhabeng Municipality is affecting us residents in a negative way in terms of service delivery.
Rubbish is piling up at the back and front of our yards. Some of the rubbish is rotting, and the smell is unbearable. I have two grandchildren (ten and 18 months old). They cannot even play on the stoep, because of the smell. I resorted to burning the rubbish but, of course, not all rubbish can be burnt.
Now, what do I do with the stinking rubbish? I cannot afford a private refuse removal company.
Can the municipality please give us an alternative as to where to dump our rubbish while they are busy attending to the demands of the striking employees?
