Through over 20 years of research, investigative journalist Michael Schmidt's new book, Death Flight, reveals how the apartheid government used covert flights to dump the bodies of ANC and Swapo activists in the Atlantic Ocean.
Schmidt, who has authored six books and has more than 30 years experience in journalism, details how the apartheid government set up a unit in the 1970s to, among others, conduct these flights through studying flight log books and in-person interviews.
More than 200 bodies are believed to have been disposed of in this manner in a eight and a half year period.
