In January, Ahmad Ghunaim was still in Gaza, a warzone, where bombs, dead bodies, and lack of basic resources was a normal day. Earlier this month, he landed in South Africa. He invited Muhammad Hussain to find out more about his journey. 

It's one of the more enduring images of the war in Gaza, where Ahmad Ghunaim sits on his did-up, dusty bed and points behind him saying: "I'm alive, and this is my home."

Behind him is a view of Gaza from the sixth floor – except that it is not picturesque as you can see the wall of his bedroom was blasted out.
