Fresh from a provincial elective conference over the weekend, the National Freedom Party has broached discussions about its potential role as kingmaker in the 2024 elections in KwaZulu-Natal.
A court order prevents the NFP, which was recently riven by factions, from participating in ward by-elections and the party believes its political opponents are using the order to their advantage.
It argues that when its councillors are gunned down, it is unable to field replacement candidates due to the court order.
