The South African government wants the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to "use its powers" to act against Israel after it "fundamentally breached" the court's order by extending its military assault in Rafah.
Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) director-general Zane Dangor told News24 that the apex court in The Hague confirmed that it had received South Africa's request and was attending to the matter.
Dangor said: "We want them to use the powers they have under Article 75 of their own founding statute, where the urgency is great, they can act, and they can act to, in fact, order provisional orders of their own or elaborate more on what they have already agreed upon with us from an enforcement perspective."
