Several National Freedom Party (NFP) members, including party veteran Ivan Barnes and hit TV series Uzalo actor Gugu Gumede – the late party founder's daughter – have thrown their names into the hat for the NFP's president vacancy.

This is as the party prepares to host its national conference in July.

The NFP will be hosting its long overdue elective conference after the death of its founder, Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi, in 2021. Gumede is Msibi's daughter and renowned for acting in Generations and also starring on the hit show Uzalo in the role of Mamlambo.
