The Amabutho (Zulu regiments) in KwaZulu-Natal have described a mic-grabbing incident at an event held to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the death of the late king Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo this weekend as "deplorable and utterly disrespectful" and say the incident was "uncalled for".
They say the "despicable" actions displayed by ANC provincial chairperson Siboniso Duma, who grabbed the mic from AmaZulu traditional prime minister Thulasizwe Buthelezi, should be frowned upon by all South Africans.
"We are outraged and appeal to the king to find comfort in what happened. We say sorry to him. What happened there should never have happened. It happened at the wrong place and time," Amabutho convener Sipho Mhlongo said.
