Mystery surrounds exactly who or even what will fund the 18 private hospitals that Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi announced would be bought and converted into public hospitals in preparation for the National Health Insurance (NHI) scheme.

On Monday, while delivering the State of the Province Address (SOPA), Lesufi made a call to President Cyril Ramaphosa to sign into law the NHI Bill that Parliament has passed.
