The ANC is refusing to buckle under the pressure of the DA, which wants the ruling party to act against embattled National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula or face the embarrassment of defending another corruption-accused leader in an election year.
But the ANC said it had no reason to support the DA's motion of no confidence in Mapisa-Nqakula.
She stands accused of receiving more than R2 million in bribes from a defence contractor during her time as defence minister.
