Despite a R2 billion allocation to South African troops deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), not all the required equipment the army needs has been delivered.
This is according to Defence Minister Thandi Modise, who assured South Africans that everything was being done to capacitate troops in the DRC.
"I can assure you that we made sure that, whatever equipment our sons and daughters need in the DRC, has been shipped. Not all that they need has gone [been shipped], they will get what they need to get. Do we regret sending our people there? No, we don't. Do we regret the loss of life… we mourn the passing of our children," Modise said.
