Thousands of pupils at 40 Eastern Cape schools have been displaced by the ongoing taxi violence that broke out in Port St Johns, Eastern Cape on Tuesday and claimed the lives of three people.
Spokesperson for the provincial Department of Education, Mali Mtima, said primary and secondary schools in Port St Johns, Lusikisiki and surrounds have been affected.
The small town has been the epicentre of a deadly taxi war since the beginning of this week when a shoot-out began between two embattled taxi associations at a local taxi rank.
