Police are expected to set up a task team to focus on taxi violence, but more might be needed to tackle the causes of taxi violence in KwaZulu-Natal.
On Thursday, Police Minister Bheki Cele met with members of the taxi industry in the Ugu and Harry Gwala districts where he announced that the task team, comprising various government departments and structures, would be launched to tackle taxi violence.
At least 24 people have been killed in taxi violence in the districts since the start of the year.
