The State called for the men charged with the murders of rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and his friend, businessman Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane, to remain behind bars, pending the finalisation of the police probe and the commencement of the trial.
The accused's legal representatives, however, on Thursday vehemently argued that keeping the men in custody was not in the interest of justice.
The Durban Magistrate's Court on Thursday started hearing final arguments in the bail applications of Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, 30, Lindani Ndimande, 35, Siyanda Myeza, 21, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, 36, and 29-year-old Lindokuhle Ndimande.
