A fire on the mountain along Du Toitskloof Pass in the Cape Winelands has entered its second day, despite cooler overnight temperatures that aided firefighting efforts.
Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) spokesperson Jo-Anne Otto said the blaze started on Wednesday afternoon and quickly spread towards the N1 highway, resulting in road closures and disruptions to traffic flow.
