The City of Tshwane's revenue collection and disconnection campaign led to the discovery of illegal electricity connections at households in Pretoria's more affluent suburbs.
On Tuesday, Tshwane officials visited properties in Brooklyn, Waterkloof Glen and Elardus Park to disconnect electricity services to homes that owe the municipality hundreds of thousands of rand in unpaid electricity bills.
The officials, accompanied by the mayor of Tshwane, Cilliers Brink, started the day in the CBD, where three small businesses and a residential property, which cumulatively allegedly owe more than R6.3 million, were disconnected.
